| Garden art. Garden junk. Trash to treasure. Garden accoutrements. Found treasures. Curbside finds. Garbage art. Garden crafts. Garden architecture.... It's all about using what you have, find, or buy nice and cheap, and creating something interesting in the garden (and ignoring any one else's opinion!). I love it when I find things that seem to go perfectly together and place them where they seem just right. Because I don't like to store things away in the winter, I tend to make garden accoutrements that can stay out year-round and tolerate our weather extremes. I don't want to baby the garden or create a lot of chores when the seasons change. If an item deteriorates over time, that's just part of the charm. Ideas from some garden tours:Tin men, reuse of windows, a new "crumbling" stone foundation, a wolf, potting table and more...

Oh Silver TreeI see these silver trees at the thrift store all the time. I'm sure they're given as gifts, considered too tacky for the dining room and carefully shuffled off to the thrift store drop box (perhaps in the next town) as quickly as possible. [See a closeup of the tree here] |
Iron PlantersI love metal trellises, arbours, and planters. But I do not love the prices. This is my cheaper version of the very expensive wall planters I was pining for all summer. [Read more here] |
Teacup Bird BathSome things are destined for each other. First I found the little mint green teacup. The next day I found the candle holder with the birds already painted on it. They go perfectly together. [Read more here] |
Fish Napkin HolderI'm pretty sure this was meant to be a large table top napkin holder. I quite like it on top of the mirror near the pond. Click on the photo for a larger image. |
Disco In The GardenI got this metal garden pot holder at the thrift shop and then I noticed these irresistable 99 cent disco balls at the dollar store. As art tends to do, they fit perfectly together. Click on the photo for a larger image. Also: Garden art/junk page one Garden art/junk page two |
