My pond today, gradually settling into its new location, ready for more plants and landscaping
Last summer I installed a small pond (my first) late in the season and never found time to plant it or landscape around it. Good thing: this year's b.i.g. backyard transformation project (still ongoing) required that I move the pond. (More on this later.)
By the time I got the pond relocated, it was rather late in the plant buying season to try and find a good water lily. The garden nurseries close by seem to wrap up their season in mid-July. Personally, I'm just getting the hang of summer by then and I wish they'd hold onto it too. In a moment of serendipity, I found the very last lily at one nursery in early August, in my desired colour: white.
Today the first bloom spilled wide open in the warm sun. (And closed up nice and tight by sunset). I have been a water lily fanatic for a very long time. This new addition to my little pond is most welcome.
A welcome beauty!
PS: Anyone else notice how the bubbles at lower right in the photo look like a frog? It's not, but maybe next year one will show up....

Your water lily is so pretty. Must be it like its new home:) I have always wanted a pond. (Some day!!) Yours is really neat. I can't wait to see the new project.
Beautiful, and well worth the wait! :)
(By the way, the soon-to-be unveiling of your new outdoor theatre stage will be well worth the wait, too.)
What is better than a water garden! I know a frog or two will find its' way into your oasis! Nice lily.
