As I sit here with frozen cheeks (face) and hands, from walking my girl home from school, I can't help but think of warmer times. On a predictive note, I still think this crazy greenhouse-gas-induced weather of recent years will bring us some warm spells this winter.
I still have about a dozen garden tours in draft mode from the summer. I shall release them whenever it seems that one more picture of snow seems is just too much to take. Like today.
This garden belongs to a horticultural society member about 1.5 hours south of where I live. It's a zone warmer and the soil is very rich. Someone told me the gardener is in her nineties and manages this garden all on her own! The whole front yard is planted and the back is enormous. She also knocked my socks off by knowing every name of any plant someone enquired about.
There are few things I enjoy more than meeting a very old, sweet, wise gardener who knows and loves the secrets of the soil. Aside from holding a baby, it's the closest one can get to The Source, I think.
This first set of photos is from the front yard. Click on pics for a larger image.

Do you see the shape she has given this new bed? Sweet!

Part two will show her amazing back yard and pond. Stay tuned.

Wow... between her front yard and her back yard... I'm drooling. And are those huge shelf fungus in the doorway? Sweet!
Yes, by all means bring on the garden tour. Love the start of this one.
